The Caribbean Association of Indigenous Banks

Caribbean Association of Indigenous Banks Inc (CAIB) has a history of outstanding service to our members and, like all proactive organisations in today’s dynamic and evolving financial services environment recognises that there must be evolution of strategy and approach in order to keep abreast of relevant developments.

CAIB aims to be as nimble and adaptable as its members in predicting and managing change, in order to remain relevant and provide excellent value. In January 2005 CAIB began the process, of developing an actionable Strategic Plan to guide the Association in the achievement of its overall objectives of facilitating the growth and development of indigenous financial institutions inthe region.

FOR THE UNIQUE Van Blommenstein Lake Storage and river resort Overbridge  FUNDAY

We leave Paramaribo about 08:00 hrs by bus. A road through the jungle leads us to the man-made van Blommenstein lake, which is a South-bound ride of 110 km. A professional guide that provides interesting details of Suriname’s history and developments will accompany every bus. In between we will also visit two transmigration villages (Klaaskreek and Brokopondo centrum) of the maroons (decedents from runaway slaves that created tribal settlements in the interior of Suriname). These villages are the result of the creation of the artificial lake to provide hydroelectric power for the bauxite processing. The trip to the South ends at the Blommenstein storage lake, where you will have a beautiful view of the lake, the dam and the hydroelectric powerhouse.

From the lake we will be traveling North-bound and end the tour (12.30-13.00) at the river resort Overbridge, where we will be welcomed by a typical indigenous group and have a wonderful Surinamese lunch. After lunch, you can enjoy a live band, but you also have the opportunity to relax, swim, and network.  If you didn’t get an opportunity yet to buy some Surinamese handicrafts, you can do so as well at Overbridge. About 17:00 hrs we will be heading back to the hotel.

In order to felicitate a smooth expedition of the activity we greatly appreciate your confirmation to participate in the FUNDAY activity by November 4th.
Price: USD 125.00
